MontanaPBS Relaunches Butte Regional Translator

Email share
MontanaPBS has successfully transitioned its over-the-air television translator to a new, lower channel following the federal spectrum auction and channel repack. This frequency change affects viewers watching MontanaPBS with an antenna in the Butte, Anaconda, Whitehall and surrounding communities.

Local viewers in the affected communities are encouraged to use the rescan function of their televisions to tune in MontanaPBS’ five channels 9.1 through 9.5. Those channels include MontanaPBS’ primary high definition channel (9.1) carrying the national PBS schedule and local MontanaPBS programs. Additionally, viewers will find a MontanaPBS’ Kids channel (9.2), MontanaPBS Create (9.3), MontanaPBS World (9.4) and the Montana Public Affairs Network MPAN (9.5).

“We are very pleased with the improved signal coverage across the southwestern Montana”, said Dean Lawver, Director of Technology for MontanaPBS, “our translator on the Continental Divide, just above Butte, reaches a surprising number of communities and I encourage viewers watching with an antenna to rescan for our MontanaPBS channels”.

MontanaPBS is a cooperative service of Montana State University, KUSM-TV in Bozeman and The University of Montana, KUFM-TV in Missoula.
