Celebrate America Across Montana

School choirs from throughout Montana perform in this special presentation created to spotlight our nation's youth, and pull communities together in an uplifting and inspiring celebration of music. The program, created by Musical Director Tim Janis, and hosted by Montana State University School of Music faculty members, Elizabeth Schmidt, Rob Maher, and Gregory Young, was taped in January 2024 at the KUSM - Montana PBS studio in Bozeman, during some of the coldest weather on record. School buses brought students from Montana school music programs including Choteau, Fairfield, Mount Ellis Academy, Sacajawea Middle School, and Simms. Well-prepared and very professional, each choir came into the studio to record their performance, sharing their talent with all of Montana. A number of schools weren't able to travel during the sub-zero weather, but were able to record performances at home, so we can also enjoy performances by the school choirs in Anaconda, Deer Lodge, Hamilton and Big Sandy. Tim Janis, familiar to public broadcasting audiences from programs such as Celtic Heart, An Enchanted Evening, Beautiful America and Coastal America, is well known for his "Music with a Mission" philosophy, and has worked on many philanthropic projects.
