House Votes to Restore $100 Million to Public Broadcasting

The full House of Representatives voted to restore $100 million in federal funding for public broadcasting. Eighty-seven Republicans joined 196 Democrats and 1 Independent in supporting an amendment put forward by Representatives David Obey, Nita Lowey and Jim Leach to restore the FY 2006 CPB funding level to $400 million.

Congressional Panel Votes to Cut Funding for Public Broadcasting

House appropriators have proposed over $220 million in federal funding cuts for public broadcasting in the new fiscal year. This represents nearly a 45% reduction in public broadcasting funds and will significantly affect public television and radio stations around the country.
