On Tuesday, December 29th, 2009, MontanaPBS converted the translator serving the community of Butte to digital. Viewers of MontanaPBS on channel 43 in the Butte area should "rescan" their digital receivers to locate the new MontanaPBS services.

MontanaPBS currently broadcasts a number of digital services in markets where DTV is available. For Butte residents, these channels will appear now as Channel 9.1 - 9.5. The channels available are:

9.1: MontanaPBS HD
9.2: MontanaPBS Kids
9.3: MontanaPBS Create
9.4: MontanaPBS World
9.5: MontanaPBS Legislative

If you have re-scanned and are still having trouble receiving us, you can experiment with your antenna position, and rescan again. Digital television is different from analog in that the signal may take a few seconds to lock up after an antenna change has been made.

If you still cannot receive us, it is likely because we are still finalizing the transition with the translator and will be working in the coming weeks to increase its power.  We are very anxious for you to receive our station and ask for your patience as we resolve any issues.

If you need any additional, more technical information, please contact feedback@montanapbs.org

MontanaPBS is currently raising funds to support this project and is halfway toward it's goal of $10,000. Viewers or businesses interested in contributing to the "Butte Translator" fund should contact Lisa Titus at 406-994-3437.
